Foodie Diary (May 2024)
My culinary adventures
Gai Khem and Soup (05-16)
Today I prepared a Thai soup named “Tom Mara Gra Duk Moo” (ต้มมะระกระดูกหมู ) with bitter gourd and pork ribs. As a taste counterpart, there was also a sweet and salty “Gai Khem” (ไก่เค็ม) based on a recipe from the book “Sabai” by Hot Thai Kitchen.
Mara Pad Khai (05-15)
Todays lunch was a quick Thai “Mara Pad Khai” (มะระผัดไข่ ) with bitter melon and scrumbled eggs.
Two Thai Dishes (05-08)
Tonight we had a Thai “Yam Gai” (ยำไก่) with fried turkey breast. I also tried a very harmless version of a Northern Thai “Saa Nuea” (ส้าเนื้อ).
Pad Ka Prao Moo Sap (05-08)
Today, I prepared once again a Thai Pad Ka Prao Moo Sap (ผัดกะเพราหมูสับ) with rice and two fried eggs.
Khao Pad Sapparot (05-07)
When I came into the kitchen this morning, it smelled of the ripe pineapple that I bought last week. I took this as an opportunity to prepare a Thai “Khao Pad Sapparot” (ข้าวผัดสับปะรด) with seafood during my lunch break. I based it on a recipe from the book “Hot Thai Kitchen”.
Tiger & Amaranth (05-06)
With the great steaks that Anne had bought at the Münstermarkt, I prepared “Thai Suea Rong Hai” (สุกี้แห้ง) or “Crying Tiger” based on a recipe by Leela Punyaratabandhu on seriouseats.com. This was accompanied by fried amaranth in two different ways. First i did a “Pad Pak Khom Nam Man Hoi” (ผัดผักโขมน้ำมันหอย) with oyster sauce and then a “Pad Pak Khom Tao Hu” (ผัดผักโขมเต้าหู้) with tofu and garlic.
